A fight for your mind

CNN. MSNBC. BBC. Fox News. New York Times. Washington Post. Breitbart.

To them, you are just a number.

« Pay close attention. You could miss something. »

Frank, the Bunny, in Donnie Darko.

It’s all about your attention.

The media fight for your attention. Why? The more time you spend listening to them, reading their articles, watching their television programmes, the more ad revenue they get. The more shocking the better. Who cares about the truth anyway?

The Truth? What is the truth?

The concept of truth itself is incredibly elusive.

Truth, after all, is subjective.

Take CNN and Fox News. Go see CNN website and see what they sell as truth. Go see Fox and see the exact same story told completely differently. One side says one thing; the other, says another. Who’s the liar?

A liar? What is a lie?

Same as the truth, it is you who decides what is a lie and what is not.

The question arises: do we even have minds of our own? Or are we just a mix of whatever had been put into our heads? Have we been programmed to think in a certain way?

The short answer is: yes, we have.

That is what education does. Education is basically social programming. Education’s role is to form your thinking. At school, you’re not expected to think outside of the box. Furthermore, you may very well be punished for questioning your teacher’s authority.

‘Why should I care?’ you may ask.

You should care, because the more space you allow them to occupy in your head, the less there will be left of you. You will become an echo chamber; an amplifier for their agenda, and in the era of the high-speed internet the fight for your mind is constant. You carry your biggest perpetrator in your own pocket.

It can be seen both on the Right and on the Left. No matter how much you think that you are right, you may well be wrong.

Well, what can we do in order to keep sane? How can we remain our own persons?

Be aware.

Be aware of what is going on around you. We must take notice that we are being manipulated. We need to think for ourselves. Analyse.

They are not telling us the truth.

The Truth? What is the truth?

The concept of truth itself is incredibly elusive.

Truth, after all, is subjective.

The truth, therefore, can be only found within ourselves.

It’s all a setup and we’ve been had. In the age of the internet, everything is different. Mind control, addiction, disinformation. Poisoned food and water. Social media, high-speed internet pornography, fad diets. Should I eat ketogenic? Should I go carnivore? Maybe vegan? How to find oneself in the midst of all this? How to make healthy choices during these unhealthy times? Contemporary life feels like walking through a minefield. Let's go through it together.
